The Serb National Federation is pleased to recommend you to watch online the outstanding theatre performance Two Women and One War with Serbian actresses Marija Bergam and Vera Mujović in the leading roles. The performance describes the friendship between the Serbian and American people through the love story of two women who are forgotten heroines of the Great War.
One is an American woman, Mabel Grujić, who is married to Serbian diplomat Slavko Grujić. Another is a Serbian woman, Jelena Lozanić, married to the Serbian people’s most generous American benefactor, John Frothingham. They both have two homelands: Serbia and the United States.
In this play, you can discover why Mabel Grujić was nicknamed the Serbian Jovanka Orleanka; how many woolen socks for Serbian soldiers at the front were knitted by rich American women from high society; and who adopted 600 children in one day.
Mabel, along with Mihajlo I. Pupin, built homes for Serbian orphans and mobilized American physicians to come to Serbia and help their colleagues.
Jelena Lozanić, Representative of the Yugoslav Red Cross from 1915 to 1920, had a great humanitarian mission to the United States to collect funds for the Serbian Army and people. She met her greatest love, John Frothingham. He donated to Serbia in value almost four Serbian national budgets from 1915.
Jelena Kajgo wrote the text of the play, and the director is Alek Conic.
The performance is with English subtitles.

AMERIČKA PREMIJERA”TOME”: Sve zvezde filma na crvenom tepihu u Čikagu, dijaspora sprema veliku feštu!
Velika američka premijera filma “Toma” desiće se 7.novembra u Čikagu, saopštili su organizatori: Serbian Times, Vladimir Lisinac Productions, Cobra Film, Minacord i Chicago Events.
U tom gradu je proletos snimljeno osam scena filma o legendarnom pevaču narodne muzike Tomi Zdravkoviću, a u njemu se kao statisti pojavljuju i mnogi naši ljudi koji žive i rade u Americi.
Toma Zdravković je 1970-tih nekoliko ključnih godina svog života proveo upravo u Čikagu, u kome je napisao svoje najlepše pesme, oženio se Gordanom Zdravković (u filmu je tumači Sanja Marković), ali i saznao da boluje od raka.
Gala premijera će biti održana u velikoj dvorani Copernicus Centra u Čikagu, koja prima 2.000 ljudi, a za koju se pretpostavlja da će biti ispunjena do poslednjeg mesta, bar sudeći po interesovanju koje u našoj dijaspori vlada za ovaj film.
Premijera će biti organizovana u maniru onih holivudskih, sa limuzinama i crvenim tepihom, a svoj dolazak je potvrdio režiser Dragan Bjelogrlić, tumači glavnih uloga Milan Marić, Tamara Dragićević i Petar Benčina, te producenti Željko Joksimović i Vladimir Lisinac.
Pre premijere biće organizovana konferencija za medije, a posle nje akteri “Tome” pokloniće se i obratiti publici, nakon čega sledi iznenađenje večeri, gde će publika imati prilike da se podseti najlepših pesama, a koga drugog do legendarnog Tome Zdravkovića!
Film “Toma” trenutno u balkanskim bioskopima obara sve rekorde gledanosti, sa preko 500.000 bioskopskih posetilaca za samo tri nedelje prikazivanja.
Nakon Čikaga, film će premijerno biti prikazan i u drugim američkim gradovima.

“TOMA” is a movie about singer/song writer, Toma Zdravkovic. He remembered not only for his songs and unique way he was singing them, but also as a bohemian. This film premiere will be accompanied by a pre-show speech, and a post-show introductions of the actors and crew. Plus a bonus musical performance of a few of Toma’s songs.
There will be a private VIP reception after the screening which will give you a chance to mingle with the cast and crew. A Meet & Greet ticket can be purchased for $75.00 and will give you access to the VIP reception, hors d’oeurves and 2 beverages.
