With a diverse lineup celebrating the blues’ past, present and future, the Chicago Blues Festival shares the great Chicago-born music tradition with the world while shining a spotlight on the genre’s contributions to soul, R&B, gospel, rock, hip-hop and more. Music begins each day at 11am at the Budweiser Crossroads Stage, the Visit Mississippi Juke Joint, the Front Porch and the Park Grill – Chicago Stage. The Jay Pritzker Pavilion will feature headliners from 5 to 9pm.
The 36th annual Festival features headline performances by Bobby Rush, Bettye LaVette, Ruthie Foster, the Jimmy Johnson Blues Band, Don Bryant and Latimore, a special tribute set for the late Mike Ledbetter by The CONNECTION with Mike Welch and Friends, Charlie Musselwhite with special guest Billy Boy Arnold and many more. Chicago is the birthplace of the urban blues, gospel music, house music and more. In 2019 over three consecutive weekends, DCASE will celebrate the city’s music legacy at the 2019 Chicago House Music Conference and Festival (May 23-25), the Chicago Gospel Music Festival (May 31-June 1) and the Chicago Blues Festival (June 7–9) on stage in Millennium Park, at the Chicago Cultural Center as well as in music venues and clubs throughout the city. Chicago is an arts powerhouse and a global destination for music lovers.
